How is the LumiSpa iO different from the original LumiSpa?
The LumiSpa iO is the connected version. It pairs by Bluetooth with the Nu Skin Vera® app, which offers a selfie timeline, preset routines, coaching, usage tracking with awards, an iO Score and personalised treatment adjustments. The underlying Micropulse Oscillation Technology and the cleanse-and-treat mechanism are the same.
How does Micropulse Oscillation Technology work?
The silicone treatment head oscillates rather than rotates — it does not scrub, which is why the device is designed for use twice a day. Nu Skin's description of what that achieves is that the device “both treats and cleanses skin,” delivering seven clinically proven benefits.
What is the Nu Skin Vera app and do I need it?

Which treatment head should I use?
Nu Skin offers LumiSpa iO treatment heads in different textures — a standard head that suits most skin, a gentler one for reactive skin, and a firmer one for a more thorough clean. If you are unsure, start with the standard head and adjust based on how your skin responds.
How often should I replace the treatment head?
Replace the treatment head periodically — follow the guidance supplied with your device. The silicone degrades gradually with use and cleaning, and a worn head does not perform as designed. Replacement heads are available at NuBodyRx.
Do I need to use Nu Skin's LumiSpa cleansers?
The LumiSpa iO's treatment function is designed around Nu Skin's own LumiSpa treatment cleansers, which are formulated to work with the device's oscillating action. A third-party cleanser will still cleanse, but it is not part of the system the device was built for — and a foaming cleanser kills the glide. Cleansers are available for Normal/Combination, Dry, Oily, Sensitive, Acne and Charcoal.
Can I use the LumiSpa iO without cleanser?
The device can be used with water only for a basic cleansing effect, but it is designed to be used with a compatible LumiSpa treatment cleanser for your skin type.

How often should I use the LumiSpa iO?
Nu Skin's routine is twice daily — once in the morning and once in the evening — for 2 minutes each session. The device has a built-in 2-minute timer with interval alerts to guide you through the routine.
How long before I see results?
Nu Skin's own promise is immediate: “in just two minutes, twice a day, you'll achieve instant results” — “results you can feel — instantly.” Beyond that, the seven clinically proven benefits Nu Skin lists are what the device is sold on. Individual results vary, and they depend entirely on using it twice a day. If it isn't working for you, you have 90 days to send it back — used or not.
Can I use the LumiSpa iO if I have sensitive skin?
Nu Skin offers a gentler treatment head and a cleanser formulated for sensitive skin. Start with once-daily use and build up as your skin adjusts. If you have a specific skin condition, ask a dermatologist first.
Can I use the LumiSpa iO with active skincare ingredients like retinol or AHAs?
Use caution when combining the LumiSpa iO with potent actives like retinol, AHAs or BHAs. The device's mechanical action can increase skin sensitivity, and combining it with exfoliating actives may cause irritation. We recommend using the LumiSpa iO in the morning and applying retinol or AHAs in the evening without the device, or consulting a dermatologist for guidance specific to your routine.

Is the LumiSpa iO waterproof?
Yes. The LumiSpa iO is waterproof and safe for use in the shower. The treatment head and device body can be rinsed under running water after each use.
How do I charge the LumiSpa iO?
The LumiSpa iO uses a magnetic charging cable. Place the magnetic connector against the charging port on the device base and connect to a USB power source. Charging times and battery life are set out in the instructions supplied with the device.
How do I clean the treatment head?
After each use, remove the treatment head and rinse it thoroughly under warm running water. Periodically clean with a mild soap and allow to air dry. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on the silicone head. Store the head in a clean, dry location between uses.
